Locate Rural And Regional Workers For Seasonal Work

What we do

With greatly improved seasonal labour information this will increase production efficiency – help get the right people into the right place at the right time.

Many young Australians are ready and willing to take on this work. Many backpackers and seasonal workers have or will return to their homelands.

Our borders are unlikely to reopen for up two years.  There’s an urgent need to locate harvest, post harvest and planting workers to make these efficiency gains for all producers, processors and businesses in the food supply chain.

The benefits will reduce costs and lower fresh food prices. Everyone has an important role to play – to keep our nation fed with good wholesome and affordable produce and to then meet the coming world-wide demand for protein.

Fair Farms

We support this Federal Government funded initiative.

Fair Farms is an industry-led initiative aimed at fostering fair and responsible
employment practices in Australian horticulture.

The major supermarkets have signed up to the program and will soon only source produce from participating farms.

Fair Farms will eventually be supply chain-wide and processors will join in.

Consumer preference will follow too and this will reflect in farm-gate prices.

Participating Fair Farms will attract better workers.

Story of ManyBusyHands

Geoff Quinn

Lots of people have suggested that I should say something about myself and how Many Busy Hands came about. I am Geoff Quinn. My life’s passion has always been agriculture; my education has been in agriculture and as a career I loved breeding cattle.

Here and there I have also loved contributing to positive agricultural policy development to enhance our industries. Whether advocating to build the Cocos Island Quarantine station to bring in new genetic material for our livestock industries; the Melbourne Animal Quarantine facility for the same purpose (I bought cattle in through it); developing protocols to import frozen semen and embryos (I used this too); the establishment of the Primary Industries Bank of Australia (privatized to form Rabo Bank in Australia); or the creation of Drought Bonds that became much used IEDs.

I developed ManyBusyHands through hosting many young visitors to our country. I learned their disappointments as they worked in rural and regional Australia. The upshot – there had to be a better way. They helped design what will become our interactive website. One that will help rural and regional businesses and their workers.

Now things have changed. We want to help you whether you’re producers, processors or service providers to find reliable casual seasonal workers. If you’re Job Seekers to help you find safe and adequately rewarded seasonal work.

We aim to help improve seasonal casual labour efficiency. To make our supply chains work more efficiently and cost effectively.

With many Australians out of work there are loads of skilled and talented people ready to work. Australians will seek fair, well rewarded work. This benefits everyone.

Times are tough, everyone must help our rural and regional economies as we keep up our food production, ensure that our people are affordably fed and that our agricultural exports go to the world.

Agriculture will help stabilise both our regional and national economies and our recovery. Rural and regional communities are an important part of the social fabric of our nation.
